The Standing Committee on Community and Intergovernmental Affairs

Consultation on Different Minimum Wage Rates

The Employments Standards Act has been amended to allow for more than one minimum wage. That means that different employees doing the same job might receive different minimum wages, or that different types of jobs might receive a different minimum wage. For example, servers in restaurants might have a different minimum wage because they usually receive tips. Another example is that inexperienced employees might have a different minimum wage during their training period.

The Standing Committee on Community and Intergovernmental Affairs wants to hear from you on this matter.
