Legislative Assembly Pleased to Partner with UPEI's International Relations Office

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, March 13, 2017 – The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island is very pleased to partner with the University of Prince Edward Island’s (UPEI) International Relations Office to provide an international student with a 30-hours job shadow work placement for the month of March. The student will be attending committee meetings and working on small projects at the Legislative Assembly.

A new pilot initiative from the International Relations Office and Career Services at UPEI, Canadian Workplace Explorations is a job shadow program that has been developed to provide International Students the opportunity to explore the Canadian workforce and to network with employers in their field of study.

Assembly staff is pleased to welcome Olamilekan Alarape to the Legislative Assembly who will be shadowing a former UPEI graduate Emily Doiron, Clerk Assistant – Journals, Committees and House Operations. Mr. Alarape is a fourth year Political Science international student who is interested in politics and government. This partnership will help the student gain a further knowledge of Canadian politics on the Island and while enriching the workplace of the Assembly with diversity and supporting our youth.
