Order of Prince Edward Island Investiture Ceremony

Government House, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, September 22, 2017 – The 2017 recipients of the Order of Prince Edward Island will be honoured at a special investiture ceremony at Government House on Tuesday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Chancellor of the Order, the Honourable H. Frank Lewis, Lieutenant Governor, will confer the honour on the following individuals:

    The Honourable Catherine Callbeck, C.M.
    Catherine Hennessey, C.M., and
    James Clement MacAulay

These three individuals were selected from a total of 53 Islanders nominated to receive the award this year.

The honour was first conferred in 1996. Since then there have been three Islanders invested each year.

The honour is awarded as a means of recognizing those Islanders who have shown individual excellence or outstanding leadership in their community and in their chosen occupation or profession. It is the highest honour that can be accorded to a citizen of the Province.  It is awarded annually following a public nomination process with recipients being selected by an independent nine-person Advisory Council each year.

Media are invited to attend and are requested to please have all equipment in place by 6:30 p.m. to ensure that the dignity of the ceremony is not interrupted.
