Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, February 13, 2025 - The Order of Prince Edward Island Advisory Council is pleased to announce nominations are open for the 2025 award.
The Order of Prince Edward Island is the highest honour the Province can bestow. It was established to recognize Islanders who make remarkable contributions to the social, economic and cultural life of their province. If you know of someone who has shown excellence or outstanding leadership in the community or in their chosen profession or occupation, this is your opportunity to have them considered for this special honour.
Those invested in the Order in 2024 were:
Kathryn Dau-Schmidt, for her tireless commitment to the teaching and promotion of traditional fiddling on Prince Edward Island;
Dr. G. Edward MacDonald, for his exceptional research of Island history and for increasing the understanding and appreciation of Island culture; and
Reginald “Dutch” Thompson, for his steadfast dedication to recording the first-hand stories and lived experiences of Islanders from times gone by.
All submissions must be received by the Secretary to the Advisory Council no later than 4:30 p.m. on or before March 19, 2025. Nomination forms and information about the Order are available online at OrderPEI.ca.
