The Legislative Assembly Internship is run in conjunction with the Department of Political Science at the University of Prince Edward Island. Students are selected by the university for the internship.
The internship gives students the opportunity to gain real-world, practical knowledge of the provincial institution that governs the island. In addition to practical knowledge, students are encouraged to pursue projects within their areas of academic interest. The internship is an opportunity for students to put their political science knowledge to use in a work environment.
Eligible students must be in their fourth year of political science at UPEI. Two students are selected to participate, one for each semester. During their internship, students work at the Office of the Legislative Assembly, spending most of their work term in and around the legislature. The application process starts in January of third year.
Students with questions about the program are encouraged to contact the UPEI Department of Political Science.
